A clear point of view on where the product should go, backed by the conviction to turn work down when it doesn't serve that direction.
Builds systems the team can't slip through by accident, so quality holds even when nobody's watching closely.
An eye sharp enough to catch what's wrong and a range strong enough to make it better, always in service of the direction set above.
Sets and defends the numbers that prove design is working, in language the business actually trusts.
Spots strong design on sight, and knows how to turn it into a strong team.
● Own the product experience point of view — where it's headed and why, not just what ships next sprint.
● Translate that direction into decisions through a UI/UX roadmap: which requests get built, which get pushed back, and on what grounds.
● Keep vision and phase-gate criteria in sync Function architecture & process governance.
● Own and refine the design operating model across design functions: UX Research, Design System, Product Design.
● Define phase-gate criteria — routing triggers, EDV thresholds, when Discovery and Strategy collapse.
● Run the review cadence that catches problems before they reach Engineering or the user.
● Own the quality standard — every shipped feature checked against a defined bar.
● Build repeatable checklists and review gates, not one-off judgment calls.
● Raise the creative bar where it matters — push for stronger ideas and sharper execution, without loosening the standard.
● Audit shipped work against the five design principles to catch drift early Metrics, goals & performance management.
